Back
to Top is a Firefox extension that helps you navigate long
pages. Basically, it
adds two items to the context menu (right click), the "Go"
(History) menu, toolbar and statusbar.
The items do just what
you would expect. "Back to
top" scrolls the current window to the beginning of the document
and
"Go to
bottom" scrolls to the last line of the document.
All browsers come stock with "Back" and "Forward" buttons to display
previously viewed pages. These are very common, basic navigation
needs. Going to the top or bottom of a page is also an everyday
browser necessity. The scroll bar works just fine for this
purpose but can be time consuming and error prone when viewing
very long pages. This extension allows for this functionality
with one mouse click. Of course, the same
thing can be accomplished using keyboard shortcuts but the object here
is to
make it mouse accessible.
Version
5.0 adds a new "unicon" and icon editor. Now you can design
icons to match your theme.
Note: If the toolbar
icons do not appear after the install, you can drag and drop them
anywhere into the toolbar by clicking: View > Toolbars > Customize.) The icons may not
appear in the customize window, but the labels will be there.)
Known issues:
- Works on only
"regular" html pages, i.e., ".html", ".htm", etc. Will not work
on pure flash pages, "about: xxx" pages, drop down form
selection fields, and possibly some xml
pages.
- Generally
speaking, if the Home/End keys work, then the extension should
work.
