back to top icons missing on context menu

Postby edwarde54 » Wed Jun 18, 2008 5:45 am

I have Firefox upgraded to 3.0 as well as my "back to top" add-on, but the arrow icons are still not showing up in the context menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Actually, the context menu icons are part of the CuteMenus extension, not Back to Top. But last I checked, CuteMenus was not yet Fx 3.0 ready.

Now that CuteMenus-Crystal SVG's been updated to comply with FF3, the arrow icons in the context menus aren't still showing up? Just to inform you that I'm on top of this 'cause I really really love this add-on. Anyway, thank you for your time.

Hi chuck,

I believe that the context menu icons of B2T version 5 were never in CuteMenus-Crystal SVG :!:

To have them, I had added to my userChrome.css file for Firefox 2 the following lines : 8)
/* "Back to Top" v5.0, the location of the context-menu icons changed */
menuitem#backtotop-context{list-style-image: url(chrome://backtotop/skin/up_small.png) !important;}
menuitem#gotobottom-context{list-style-image: url(chrome://backtotop/skin/down_small.png) !important;}

:? But it no more works with Firefox 3.

Can you give us how to have them like with Firefox 2 ? :?:

The 1.9.3 update of CuteMenus-Crystal SVG was made only to replace the em : maxVersion of Firefox from 3.0b3 to 3.0.*

Best regards. :wink:

Hi,

- The version 1.9.3 of CuteMenus-Crystal SVG does not contain the updated link for images of BackToTop version v5 and newer :!:

I have found a temporary solution for this problem : :P

- I have edited the file "chrome\cutemenus.jar\content\cutemenus\res\mosaic.css" inside the cutemenus_-_crystal_svg-1.9.3-fx+tb+sb+sm.xpi extension file.
I have updated the 2 lines 373 and 374 to be
menuitem#backtotop-context { list-style-image: url(chrome://backtotop/skin/up_small.png) !important; }
menuitem#gotobottom-context { list-style-image: url(chrome://backtotop/skin/down_small.png) !important; }

The directory "/blue" was deleted in these 2 strings. 8)

It gives a new version of CuteMenus-Crystal SVG to be used waiting that it is corrected by its support. Here is the extension file : cutemenus_-_crystal_svg-1.9.3.1.TM-fx+tb+sb+sm.xpi

:idea: To work, the lines for BackToTop in the userChrome.css file must be deleted.

Best regards :wink:

Context menu icons

Good job on the fix! Icons are where they're suppose to be and I must say on behalf of other users as well as me, thank you very much. Regards.

Hi Chuck,

I have a question, with the new CuteMenus-Crystal SVG that I have made, I have noted using it with Firefox 2, that the PNG files used for B2T are too big :!:

The 2 "small" PNG files used for contextual menu are 24x24.

I have looked the others extensions that have an image in the context menu, the size of their images are 16x16.

This size problem is visible with Firefox 2 and not with Firefox 3 but the size of your image seems to be reduced with Firefox 3 (to be at the same size of others images).

So I suppose that you should reduce your image to be like the others and then it will also reduce the size of your extension.

I have not looked to find why you have choosen this size 24x24 rather than 16x16 for this context images.

Can you investigate and modify them for next release ?

Best regards :wink:

Hi Menet, I don't remember offhand why I used 24x24 image size, but there must have been a reason. Can't you specify displayed image width/height in css? In other words, can't css force the size to 16x16 no matter what the original size is?

I have found where these 2 "small" images 24x24 are used : in the Options / Click Map, in the midle after the "standard" images ans the Unicone images.

For the options, it is better to see the images at the size you have gived to them.

I have looked quickly the mosaic.css file where is the codding for B2T in Cutemenus but it seems that nothing like that was made for the others extensions.

Can you update the 2 "small" images in 16x16 and then in the codding show them bigger for the options screen ?

Best regards :wink:

Menet,

Try using the following in mosaic.css:

Code: Select all
menuitem#backtotop-context { list-style-image: url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAABAAAAAQBAMAAADt3eJSAAAAA3NCSVQICAjb4U/gAAAAJ1BMVEX///8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP9tsnXyAAAADXRSTlMAESIzRGZ3iJm7zN3//lPi0AAAAAlwSFlzAAALiAAAC4gB5Y4pSQAAABZ0RVh0Q3JlYXRpb24gVGltZQAxMi8yMS8wNff+Nl0AAAAhdEVYdFNvZnR3YXJlAE1hY3JvbWVkaWEgRmlyZXdvcmtzIDMuMO9pMfAAAAA8SURBVHicY2BgYGBhgIKeAAjNceYoVODMGbAQc+WZE4VgEfYzRxhIZ7DCGExnjsHsOiUAVbRmewADHAAAon8XQvq2vrwAAAAASUVORK5CYII=) !important; }
menuitem#gotobottom-context { list-style-image: url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAABAAAAAQBAMAAADt3eJSAAAAA3NCSVQICAjb4U/gAAAAJFBMVEX///8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP8AAP+GLrpKAAAADHRSTlMAETNEVWZ3iJm77v8W/qT6AAAACXBIWXMAAAuIAAALiAHljilJAAAAFnRFWHRDcmVhdGlvbiBUaW1lADEyLzIxLzA19/42XQAAACF0RVh0U29mdHdhcmUATWFjcm9tZWRpYSBGaXJld29ya3MgMy4w72kx8AAAADlJREFUeJxjYIADtq6dDhAW0+6tULHZu6CM7N0KMIYB6Qz12bvbBUAMjt0wo7t3B0AYHDC7GBKAGACXkhSVzQaZmQAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==) !important; }

There are exactly two separate lines with no line breaks in either one. I just replace the chrome url with a data url. The data url contains the "recipe" for the two arrows. Personally, I think that CuteMenus should always use data urls. That way it doesn't change nor requires the supported extension to be installed.

It works like with an icon 16x16 :P

But you are right, I prefer to keep the URL in the coding, it is short and always up to date if you change the icon shape/colors. :roll:

I simply copied the two images to my profile's chrome folder and changed the URL to point to the two local images (though the arrows are nowhere near as identifiable as they used to be: tiny arrows in a tiny box... well, maybe something is better than nothing (?), or maybe I'll grab the old images and use them instead... meh).
