OPIE2 Error on PaleMoon

Postby Bito » Sun Feb 04, 2018 7:40 am

Hi Chuck,

I use the latest version of the Palemoon browser (v. 27.7.2, 32 bit) and have a problem with OPIE2 (v. 10.0) which I got from the official download site for Pale Moon (https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/opie2/):

Whenever I try to open the "preferences" panel for OPIE2, I get the following error message

OPIE2_Error.jpg

In English this reads:
XML processing error: undefined entity
address: chrome://opie2/content/opie2.xul
Line No. 183, column 11

label value="&opie2.resetpref.caption;"/>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------^

How can I change this?
When I use the "normal" OPIE v. 10.0 for Pale Moon, everything is okay.

Greetings from Germany

It is most likely because the OPIE2 locales (translations) for german were never completed. The easiest way to fix this would be for you to temporarily change the Pale Moon preference (in about:config) general.useragent.locale from whatever it is now (probably 'de') to 'en-US'. That way Pale Moon will use the english strings. After you are finished using OPIE2, you can change the preference back.

There are other things we can try, but they would require you to edit one or two files in the OPIE2 extension itself. If the above does not work, let me know if you want to try these other options.
