TEBE Hanging Up

I am using TEBE version beta(20100727_120000) and Thunderbird version 3.1.2. I was receiving script unresponsive errors when backups were started. I did everything I could find on the forums pages including changing the chrome script run times. I eventually changed the time to 0 and then the program bar stopped moving within a few seconds and then hanging up the entire program. I completely remove TEBE and downloaded a new version and installed it. Now when I run a backup, within a few seconds the program bar stops moving and the entire program locks up. I don't know what to do next or what additional information one would need to assist.

Are you getting any TEBE related errors in the error console (Tools > Error Console)? You may also want try the extension for error checking. It is more comprehensive.

Also try running "Clear TEBE preferences" and "Verify extension directory" in Tools > TEBE > TEBE Options > Debug.

If you are still experiencing problems, try this: Open and clear the Error console. Leave it open and perform a backup. After a few seconds (when the progress meter starts moving again) examine the error console for any error messages. Copy/paste them here.

Ok, I found the errors and corrected those and I got a back up to complete. I have a large thunderbird file (the backup file for mailmessages.tbu was 1,868,394 KB) and it took about 10 minutes to complete the backup. The bar on TEBE was not moving during the backup except for the very beginning and ending. I have the chrome script set to 0. I have thunderbird set to to compact folders when it will save over 50 KB. Is there anything to speed the backup or do I just need to set the backups when I am not doing anything else.

Nearly 2 GB of data is a lot. And that is compressed data. Have you taken a look inside the .tbu file (renaming it to .zip if necessary)? See what items are the largest. Are you clearing your junk folder and emptying the trash regularly? How big is your TB cache? Does clearing it decrease the backup size?
