Chuck, I installed 5.2.4 and got the same result than before:
- progress window still there
- if copy of FEBE ticked just a new folder is created but nothing on it and no windows comes up in Firefox.
Let me know if you need anything else

Update:
There is one difference. Since I try the BU with the FEBE copy selected it does not work at all. I deselected the option and try BU with no result: nothing happens (even the folder is nor created) and it does not matter if I select or not full profile.
I reinstall FEBE 5.2.4 but it keeps blocked.
I reinstall then 5.2.3 (the info panel says it is the one installed) but the same thing: FEBE does nothing So I can not make any BU at all now.

Please try the debug2 version I just posted (see top post). Also, would you post your FEBE configuration (FEBE Options > Info > System > Display configuration)>

New release (debug3) installed. Deleted preferences. Same result: nothing happens.
Now I could see an error in the Error console:

Let's try a couple of things. The error is occurring when FEBE attempts to delete previous backup directories in "G:\Mis Documentos\Firefox-Copias seguridad\Copia seguridad de todo con FEBE". What type of drive is "G:"? Is it a CD, DVD, networked or USB stick? Try changing your backup destination drive to something on the "C:" drive (perhaps "C:\FEBEbackups") and see what happens.

Another thing to try is unchecking "Use timestamped directories".

G: is a partition of the same HD than C:
I configured to use G:\FEBE and it works once. Since that first time (with progress window on top all the time) nothing happens but the creation of the new folder.
I try to use then G:\FEBE1 and C:\FEBE with the same result: nothing. If I configure timestamp directories folders are created otherwise nothing is visible.
None error comes now in Error console
I have now c:\FEBEbackup as folder and no timestamp directories. Nothing happens at running FEBE.

cairel, If the directory is created but nothing appears in it, then it must be erring out someplace. I don't recall anyone else describing the symptoms you are having. Let's start with the instructions in and see if we can solve this.

Please note that if any errors occur, Firefox must be restarted to reset FEBE.

I try some systematic tests. Allways with selective backup and using as BU folder c:\FEBEbackup
1.- No timestamp directories, no clear destination directory
It works once. From second time on nothing happens untill I restart firefox (then, again it works on time)
2.- No timestamp directories, clear destination directory. Initially BU directory is empty
BU done the first time
Second time FEBE warn you that 28 files of the destination directory will be erased. I press OK and nothing else happens. If I go to the destination directory I see that instead of deleting the whole 28 files there are still 2 there: userChrome...css and usernames-passwords...fbu and an error appears on the error console.
I delete them manually, however BU keeps not working untill I reset FEBE

userChrome..css is a system file. If you try to delete it manually you get a warning from the OS to confirm the operation. Maybe FEBE fails at that (the second file not deleted is probably because the deleting operation is stopped just before) and from then on it does not work because it has registered the error.

My 5.2.1 is hanging after backup is complete also. I went to your post about how to do debugging on Jan 4 5:38 PM.

The backup seemed to complete to local disk, however the banner with the WIP remained opened.

Here is the contents of the Error Console:

larzeb, go to Tools > FEBE > FEBE Options > Debug > Tmp directory. Click the buttons to create, delete and view. If you don't get any errors there, try the backup again.

i tried to install the debug versions into firefox4 but ff says they are all incompatible and will not install them. thus i cannot see if they will solve the shutdown issue

All the FEBE debug versions are for Fx 3.x. I now have a Windows 7 box that I can test FEBE with. If I can duplicate the issue, it will get fixed.
