Hi,

recently I tried TEBE extension to backup my Thunderbird data.
It all went fine until I tried to connect TEBE with Box.com account.
Here I get the message you can see in the attached screenshot. Am I doing something wrong or has something at the box.com side changed?

I am using Ubuntu, Thunderbird 31.8.0 and TEBE beta (20130106_REJIG). If you need any further information please let me know.

Any ideas?

Hi,

thanks for the link.
Still considering to integrate Dropbox over WebDav? I saw that it was mentioned for FEBE but it would be nice for TEBE too.
If not than I'll just do it manually.

It is my hope that TEBE will support any WebDAV type location (Google drive, Dropbox, MS Onedirve, etc.). Gary (spaceShot9) has taken over TEBE development but I will mention it to him next time we talk. FEBE already has that functionality so it is most likely that TEBE will also.

Hi.
I've been using TEBE for ages, and was extremely happy to see it was taken up again and resurrected.

I'm running the latest versions of both TB and TEBE (38.3.0 & 20130103_REJIG). I've been unable to run any backups since March. The automatic backups do not run, and neither does a manual backup. I don't get any errors - it just goes on as if nothing happened.
Can anyone give me a hand, or idea as to where to even start looking for a result?

You say you don't get any errors. Are you checking the Tb error console in Tools > Error Console (Ctrl-Shift-J)?

I use TEBE every day for a scheduled backup and it runs fine. I do get some TEBE related errors in the console (complaining about an observer) but the backups still complete. I have the same versions installed as you do.

Took me some time to work this out, but, based on that pointer to the error console, I finally got it.
I do get an error, as follows:

Obviously, the backup is having an issue with deleting something. As I'm deleting older backups, that would be the place to look. I'm using the same destination directory and destination settings in FEBE, and it works, so it's not a directory permissions issue. I looked into each folder, and discovered that the culprit is the local copy of TEBE, which I include in the backup. It's getting marked Read Only (the only file of the backup). Since TEBE can't delete it, it threw an error. Once I removed the Read Only flag, the next backup went through.

HOWEVER, I see that the new backup is also marking the local copy of TEBE as Read Only, which means that I need to go in and clear that flag after every backup - not an ideal option. I'm also seeing the following error at the end:

I don't know if that has anything to do with this or not.
In any case, I'm wondering why this is happening. I assume it's not happening to everyone, or this issue would have come up earlier and more often.

Unfortunately, TEBE is not actively being developed now. That said, I still use TEBE to do a daily scheduled backup and it seems to be working fine. (I do get the error about the 'observerService', but it doesn't seem to affect the backup.)

If TEBE is copying itself with a read-only status, it might be because the original is read-only. Check the permissions of [profile]/extensions/tebe@guid.softwarebychuck.com.xpi and make sure it has the appropriate settings.

Also, make sure you are using the latest version (beta(20130106_REJIG)).

Thanks so much, Chuck! I checked and, yes, the .xpi file was set as read-only. No idea why that happened. I ran some tests and it's working fine now.

It is a pity that TEBE is undeveloped. The amount of time both TEBE and FEBE have saved me in the past is incalculable. I'd love to help, but have no experience whatsoever in extension development.
