FEBE didn't restore bookmarks toolbar contents

Postby nhsgary » Fri Jan 20, 2012 10:52 am

I just upgraded my PC from XP to a new machine on Win7. I used my FEBE backup to restore most of my profile, but the bookmarks toolbar didn't repopulate. Is it just gone? (All the "regular" bookmarks came across fine.)

Those bookmarks are stored in a file named "localstore.rdf". This file is very profile specific because it stores not only the bookmarks toolbar info, but also size, position and order of various open windows, icons, and other toolbars. If you were to restore this file into a profile that was not exactly the same as the one it was backed up from, general mayhem and havoc would surely ensue thus making a mess of the browser display.

The file, however, is included in a full profile backup and can be safely restored when a full profile restore is performed.
