Please upgrade to FEBE 8.0beta3 and see if the problem persists.

Same problem.

Used 8.0 B3 to clear preferences, synchronous backup (25 second unresponsiveness is gone); only does the additional items, not extensions.

Quick Backup still works for extensions.

I'm going to write a version to specifically debug the extension backup function. It won't be widely available and only posted here. It will display debugging information in the error console. I would like you to run a selective backup (extensions only) with this version and copy/paste the error console contents here. Do you already have the Console² extension installed? Please install it if you don't.

I'll post a link to the debug version here when it's ready. Shouldn't take me more that an hour or so.

Ok ... please install FEBE8.0betaDebug.

Open and clear the error console just before starting the backup. When the backup completes, right-click in the error console and click "Select all", then right-clock and "Copy".

Paste the information here.

Edit: Could you also include a list of your installed extension? (FEBE options > Advanced > List installed add-ons)

Ok, the first thing I noticed is that you do not have a backup destination directory set (at least one that FEBE can recognize).

What is the setting in FEBE Options > Where to backup > Backup destination directory? Does it match the value in about:config for extensions.febe.extBUdir?

Also, while in about:confg, reset the value of extensions.febe.othercloudservices (right-click on the value and click "Reset", if it will let you).

The backup destination directory path is, "C:\Users\beau-chaine\Desktop\A N D Y - 2\B A C K U P\FIREFOX\FEBE-8"
I continued using that path, as Quick Backup and Perform Backup had the same results with C:\FEBE

The about:config extensions.febe.extBUdir says, "C:\Users\beau-chaine\Desktop\A N D Y - 2\B A C K U P\FIREFOX\FEBE-8"

About:config extensions.febe.othercloudservices will not allow the reset. Do you want me to delete the value, or delete the preference name?

No, I don't think it will even let you remove the preference. Even if it did, it would get re-created the next Fx startup.

I'll write another debug version tomorrow that analyzes the backup destination directory more closely. FEBE is recognizing all your extensions and is looping through them. For some reason it is apparently failing the copy and/or zip process. At least now I know where to look more closely.

Thanks for the help and I'll have something ready by tomorrow afternoon.

Glad to help.

FYI, the OtherCloudServices value is, {"location1":{"name":"","uri":"","enabled":false},"location2":{"name":"","uri":"","enabled":false},"location3":{"name":"","uri":"","enabled":false}}

Ok, I think I've found the problem. It had to do with whether you had the "Use timestamped directories" option checked or not. Apparently, you did not. I have to wonder how nobody else (including me) noticed this. :wtf:

Please re-install FEBE8.0betaDebug and let me know.

Bingo, that worked.

Sorry it took so long to reply; I like testing. Just having an involved week.

I was pretty sure that would work, so I incorporated the fix in the now available FEBE8.0beta4. Thanks for the testing!
