FEBE "When to Backup" not saved

Problems and experiences with my extensions on the Windows 7 platform.

FEBE "When to Backup" not saved

Postby mtree » Sat Jun 21, 2014 7:21 am

Running Windows 7, 64-bit.

Since moving to FEBE 8.0.4 (mid-May) I am unable to set any option for when to backup. If I check a box and exit, when I return the box is no longer checked.

I can perform manual backup but saves at exit have stopped since mid-May.

Put FEBE in debug mode (FEBE Options > Advanced > Miscellaneous > Advanced Preferences). This should open the error console. If it doesn't, click the Toggle browser (error) console button. (Mozilla has been threatening to eliminate the error console for some time now, but you can get it back by installing the Console² extension.)

Make sure the "JS" button in the console is on (click to turn on/off - dark is on, light is off). Try changing some preferences and examine the console for any FEBE related error messages (type febe in the "Search:" box). Copy/paste them here.

You should also try running "Clear FEBE preferences", "Verify extension directory" and "Check AddonManager functionality" in FEBE Options > Advanced > Tools. FEBE will alert you if it finds any problems.

When done, you can hide the error console by unchecking the FEBE debug mode box in FEBE Options > Advanced > Miscellaneous > Advanced Preferences. Or (if you have the browser console open) click the "X" button in the console's upper-right corner.

Nearly all of those message are not FEBE related. There are only two unique FEBE messages in your list. One refers to "undefined property this.febeIgnoreList[addon.id] febe.js:781" which usually can be resolved by running "Clear FEBE preferences" in FEBE Options > Advanced > Tools.

The other message ("undefined property FEBE.febeMsg[113] febe.js") would indicate there is something wrong with your locale files (used to hold language translations). Are you running the en-US (English) version of Firefox?
