Saving the contents of password fields should be opt-in

Postby martin.von.wittich » Thu Jul 28, 2016 3:32 am

Hi,

at the moment, TIRE will happily save the contents of password fields to its database. I don't think that that's very useful because most people probably aren't very concerned about losing data from a password field - you either have the password memorized, or you've stored it in the password manager. Due to the fact that TIRE currently doesn't encrypt its database it's also not very safe, at least for us beta testers :)

I'd suggest that the ability to save password fields should be either removed completely, or that users should have to enable it with an option if they really want to use it.

I've included an option for that. Should be available in a day or two.

Yup, seems to work fine so far - there's a new "Save password" checkbox which is disabled by default, and password fields are no longer highlighted as savable or have a TIRE tooltip when I enable the debug tooltips.

The highlight color has to changed to black though, that seems unintentional, because when I enable highlighting, I can no longer see any text now because it's black on black in most text fields ^^

The highlight color is user-changeable. Just click the button next to "Highlight color:" in options. Also when you "Clear storage", the color is reset to default (which is '#e6e6fa" - a lavender color).
