Feature request - "add selected text to PEP""

Postby relay12 » Tue Sep 11, 2012 11:22 am

@Chuck,

I use PEP frequently to manage keep small texts I use in my webmail, or for form filling. For example something short like a phone number. Usually the label is prefix of first line of pastetext. I am doing this:
  • select text, copy text,
  • click PEP options,
  • add item button,
  • enter label (paste text),
  • enter pastetext box text - same or almost the same as label.
  • save entry
  • save all
  • now I can re-use it!
Short text items where your label and pastetext box contain the same info (eg. phone number) could be done a lot quicker with the following an "Add to Paste Email+" context menu option available whenever text on page is selected. Using this would work a lot quicker as it would do this:

  • add a new pastetext item,
  • the selected text's left most 32 chars are used as the "Label",
  • pastetext field gets full selected text,
  • category would default to "none" or a user-defined default category.
It could then be used right away which is useful when you are in a hurry and making a lot of these short text pastes. :D What do you think?

Could "Add to Paste Email+" be created as a bookmarklet with existing PEP version?

Thanks for all the effort that goes into your tools.

Sounds like a great idea! I'll put it on my PEP todo list.

Thanks for the suggestion.
