FEBE: Delete a user-defined backup

Postby VLM » Thu Dec 17, 2020 8:14 am

Greetings once again, Chuck!

I created a few user-defined backups, then discovered that one of them is redundant. I tried to delete that one, but apparently unsuccessfully. Specifically, I:

1. Opened FEBE Options > What to back up > User-defined backups.
2. Selected Edit, then the backup in question.
3. Selected Delete, then Post entries and exit.

As far as I can determine, nothing changed. So I'm apparently missing something and would appreciate your guidance.

Thanks!

You don't need to click the Edit button. First click Delete, then Select dropdown, then Submit. Click Post entries and exit to perform the deletion.

Thank you, that worked as advertised. Meanwhile, the options dialog now (again) extends off the bottom of the screen. This hasn't happened in a while. Sigh.

Thank you, Chuck. I tried this (you taught this to me once before), but I am blocked by something I've never encountered in 35 years of using Windows machines: when I press alt-spacebar, Windows opens a search dialog that says "Start typing". I have no idea where this came from, repeated web searches haven't turned up anything helpful, so I am stuck.

This occurs throughout Windows, it has nothing to do with Pale Moon or your extensions.

After a restart, this worked … until it didn't. This has been a problem, at least for me, for years. Would you consider shortening the dialog? There's a lot of unused space in it, and the way it comes up now — after I resized it and it lost the resizing — I can't get to the tabs up top. So I can't do much of anything.

Please?

The re-sizing issue appears to be with Mozilla's XUL and XPCOMM apis (which, although are still used with Pale Moon and Waterfox, no longer seem to be maintained by anyone). So that being the case, there is nothing I can fix in FEBE to resolve the problem.

There are one or two files in your Fx profile folder that store information about window size and location: localstore.rdf and/or xulstore.json. You could, in theory, edit these files to adjust window sizes but I'm not sure if it would be a permanent fix. I'm hesitant to assist you in editing these files as they are cryptic and I'm not exactly sure how to go about it.

Thanks Chuck. I agree, beyond my comfort zone. That's why I asked whether you might consider adjusting it on your end, where you have source code control.
