FEBE 10.4 — For user-def backup, cannot access AppData file

Hi Chuck,

In my old Win 7 system, I was able to use FEBE to back up the Outlook CUSTOM.DIC file. But now, in Win 10, when I click on browse to select the path/file, I can get to the user but AppData is not displayed. Is there a way through this?

PS: I suppose one solution is to move the custom dictionary. But I'd like to find a solution using the default location, if possible.

What are the permissions on the AppData directory? You may need to add read/write permission to all users for FEBE to see it. FEBE would also need read/write permission to restore it.

Thank you Chuck. I discovered that I had an MS update pending. When I restarted the system, allowing that update to be installed, everything returned to normal.

Out of curiosity, how would one go about determining and then editing permissions for a system folder such as AppData?

To check/change permissions, right-click the folder and select Properties > Security then click Edit.
