You say you click on "preferences". Do you mean FEBE Options? Or perhaps FEBE Options > Advanced > View FEBE preferences? What does the popup say? Are you sure FEBE is displaying the popup? If it is, you should be able to see the Image icon in the popup heading.

It appears that FEBE cannot find or create a list of your installed extensions by getting the information from AMO. One way to fix the problem would be to extract the attached file into your [profile] directory. Once installed, you should be able to open FEBE options. You will need to have FEBE recreate the file with the proper data by going to FEBE Options > Advanced > Attempt to load and save extension data. (You must, of course, be online to do this.)

The attached file contains only the bare minimum data that FEBE needs to process. A proper backup cannot be accomplished without recreating the file as described above.

hi, ok, did it like you wrote - the file was missing in profiles..!
copied yours into it and "attempt to..." - now it seems that it starts now without crashing FF...! :-)
what was the failure - by me or the program..?! :-o

hi, seems it works now..! :-)

one question, isn´t there any progress bar or status countup or something where i can see
when it is running (and backing up) and how long it will take... if it´s still working or stuck or so...? :-)

thanx, martin

It was FEBE's fault (or, more specifically, the Internet). I'm looking into a fix that should reduce the probability of receiving that message.

Yes. Check the box in FEBE Options > How to backup > Display progress window.
