Hi Chuck:

I am trying to port my firefox portable settings to palemoon portable to get around the webextensions fiasco. I installed FeBe 8.9.3.1 in firefox and 10.0 in palemoon. I kept having trouble with my bookmarks so finally I just renamed the bookmarks html file and used standard firefox restore to get by my problems. Now I am having the same issue with user-password. When I try to restore to palemoon I get:

'usernames-passwordsFx50.1.0(FEBE8.9.3.1){profile}.json' is not a valid username-password backup.
Restore aborted!

I removed the master password on both browsers and still I get this error. BTW, this is the same error I got on bookmarks. Both the json and html files. The user/pass json looks ok to me although the passwords are encrypted even after removing master password. Do you have any idea what the issue could be?

Thanks...

well well, I just figured out how to get it to work. I renamed the firefox file to the name that palemoon uses for it's backups. e.g.
ren "usernames-passwordsFx50.1.0(FEBE8.9.3.1){profile}.json" "usernames-passwords{Default}.json"

I don't mind the extra step. It is just great to be able to port my passwords! But for those less computer savvy it becomes a major problem.

Thanks...

Glad you were able to figure it out. FEBE v10 for PM is based upon FEBE v8.3.1 which used the older backup names. Backups with FEBE v10 will continue to use the old names so restoring in the future should work without having to rename files.

There is a problem with restoring extensions with PM v27.5.1, though. It seems there was a change to some APIs between v26.1.1 and v27.5.1. I'm in the process of fixing it now. In the meantime, extensions can be restored by using File > Open File....

Well that's how I was restoring them anyhow so that worked out. Trying to cut way back on the extensions I use to keep yet another browser from slowing to a crawl.
