With Waterfox 55 FEBE was working, after updating to Waterfox 56.0 FEBE freezes, sometimes already when trying to open the preferences, sometimes within the preferences window.

I cannot duplicate this. I upgraded to Wf v56.0.1 and FEBE works as expected for me.

Are you getting any FEBE related errors in the Browser Console (Ctrl-Shift-J, filter for 'febe'). If so, please copy/paste them in your reply.

I recently have installed Linux Mint parallel to Windows 7 on my notebook. I am back on Windows at the moment and FEBE works correctly. The trouble was on Linux. As written only after updating to FF 56. I cannot test Linux today, I will come back to this topic after I've done.

Can confirm that this is occurring in Linux Mint 18.3 with Waterfox 56.0.1.

Hope there will be a fix somehow - FEBE is the one of the most important add-ons to Firefox/Waterfox.

I installed Linux Mint 18.3 64bit ('Sylvia') on a virtual machine then installed Waterfox v56.0.1. I experienced the same problem - FEBE hangs when opening options. There are no messages in the error console to debug.

The problem is most likely with Waterfox 56. Another user reported similar issues with Mac High Sierra 10.13.1.

The 56.* situation: a few key points

Food for thought, a few key points, to the best of my recollection:

a) my earliest experience, I had limited success with FEBE with … probably Firefox 56.0

b) later, Waterfox 56.0 was based on Firefox 56.0.2

c) with FEBE added to a clean, new profile with Firefox 56.0.2 or any 56.* version of Waterfox, browser failure (after appearance of the FEBE options window) seems to be consistently reproducible – the browser either hangs completely, or crashes.

So I guess that a significant incompatibility with FEBE arose with either Firefox 56.0.1 or Firefox 56.0.2. Does anything in Mozilla's release notes offer a clue?

(My early limited success with FEBE with Waterfox 56.* was probably thanks to reusing the profile that was created by a pre-56.0.2 Firefox.)
