saved prefererences not redisplayed in the options dialogue

Firefox and Waterfox 56.x on FreeBSD.

I can set things such as the path for backups, OK and close the options window, but when the window is reopened it's as if no setting was made:

Remaking the setting:

2017-12-23 19.42.40 FEBE Options.png

… and so on.

Preferences such as extensions.febe.extBUdir are set:

2017-12-24 06.20.11 about config.png

– but it seems that reopening the options window never reflects what was previously set by the user.

Could you double-check permissions on the backup destination directory? Try chmod drwxrwxrwx. If that works, you can always change the permissions to something more restrictive if necessary.

Strange … I'm almost certain that I posted a long reply, a few hours ago, but it's not here :-(

tl;dr permissions there are fine, confirmed with the permissions test that's integral to FEBE.

As far as I recall (from tests when I was composing the long reply) there was just one occasion when the dialogue _did_ successfully present the path after closure and reopening of the dialogue.

Curious ... are you closing the FEBE options window by clicking the 'OK' button in the lower right, or using the *nix buttons on the upper left?

Are the other FEBE options set in about:config?
