Rec'ving error when FEBE Runs

Postby SBMongoos » Wed Jul 28, 2010 8:25 am

I've been getting this error for a while now:

"Could not process extension/theme with GUID {666ccc60-6cdd-11da-8cd6-0800200c9a66} -- skipped"

I've tried various things I've read in the forum here but none of them work. I have cleared the preferences, tried different backup types and get this same error. Am running Windows 7 Pro 64bit with Firefox 3.6.8. This has been happening for a while which predates Firefox 3.6.8.

Thanks!

It looks like FEBE is having a problem with the "Verizon Minutes Used Firefox Extension Version 2.1". Do you have that installed, and does it seem to be working? If so, you may want to temporarily disable it to perform a backup.

I have a whole never version of the Verizon Ext installed. It's been redone by someone else. It's not v1.24 (by Jay Baldwin).

Still getting the same error.

Edit: Correction. I had Jay's v1.1b2 installed and just now installed v1.24. Tried the backup again but still get the same error.

I just installed "Verizon Usage Monitor 1.24" from AMO, performed a backup and all ran well.

Perhaps you have the old version still installed (or at least some of it). When you pull up Tools > Add-ons does it show more than one version? If so, uninstall the old version.

If only one version shows up, try this: With Firefox closed, navigate to profile/extensions. Look for a directory named "{666ccc60-6cdd-11da-8cd6-0800200c9a66}". If it exists, remove it and all it contents. After that, remove these four files from your profile directory:
  • extensions.cache
  • extensions.ini
  • extensions.log
  • extensions.rdf
These files will be recreated when Firefox restarts.

Note: There should also be a directory in profile/extensions named "{c337dbf7-c952-4e64-9a1c-c81bd880d8b6}". This is the new version of "Verizon Usage Monitor" and backs up fine.

Completing this step: "Look for a directory named "{666ccc60-6cdd-11da-8cd6-0800200c9a66}". If it exists, remove it and all it contents." did the trick. I did not have the four files you referred to. Thanks for the fix! And you are correct about the directory {c337dbf7-c952-4e64-9a1c-c81bd880d8b6} as it does exist and of course I left it in tact. I ran FEBE and it ran without errors. :D
